Help complete the Hassan family’s Season for Caring wish list

This week we’re highlighting the remaining wishes of the families featured in the 2017 Season for Caring program.

Hawa Hassan, 31, who lived most of her life in a refugee camp in Kenya, got to see her 9-year-old son Haji Mada try out his new electric wheelchair from National Seating & Mobility and Quantum Rehab last month. She still needs pots, pans, kitchen utensils, bedding, dressers, after-school tutoring for all the kids, a minivan with a wheelchair lift, driver’s education and everything for a new baby.

Hawa Hassan, whose estimated age is 31, sits on the sofa with her three children inside their East Austin apartment. Hassan fled violence in Somalia as a child and moved to Austin in 2016 from a refugee camp in Kenya. QILING WANG / AMERICAN-STATESMAN
